Description
1920's Waterman 56 Fountain PenSmooth Black Hard Rubber w/Gold Filled Trim
c. 1920's. Made by L.E. Waterman Company.
This listing is for a Rare Waterman 56 Fount
ain
Pen. The Waterman 56 size fountain pen is one of the larger size models Waterman made.
The 14k Gold Nib is marked "Account" which is Firm Extra Fine.
It is marked, "ACCOUNT WATERMAN'S IDEAL REG. US. PAT. OFF. 6 MADE IN U.S.A.".
The barrel is personalized with the name, "Herbert H. Lane".
The large gold filled band on barrel is marked, "N.Y.B.M.F.I. Co. 2.12.1936. I am not sure precisely what these letters represent. It
would
seem like the first 2 letters refer to
New York...and the date is 2-12-1936...but the rest of the letters not sure about.
Condition is "Excellent" with no cracks, scratches, or teeth marks(please see numerous pictures). The gold filled trim is mostly clean with just brassing to the clip ball and high points on the lever. From the pictures of the barrel you can see the mild color difference from where a portion of the barrel inside the cap is slightly darker. This is common for hard rubber pens because they oxidize to varying degrees over time due to exposure to light.
Has newly replaced rubber bladder in good working condition.
Nice Waterman 56 fountain pen, rare, great for collection!
