    Description

Antique Anheuser Busch Pocket Knife 2 Stanhopes (empty).
Please note that the Stanhopes are empty holes. This 3 blade pocket knife with a corkscrew has a silver nickel handle. It measures aprox. 3 1/4 inches when closed. A. Kastor+ Bros Warranted Cutlery is stamped on two blades. Anheuser Busch Germany is stamped on the flip side of these blades. See pictures. One side of the handle has the Anheuser Busch banner with the “ Eagle in A” trademark showing the eagles wings folded back into the letter A, indicating it is one of the older AB knives. The opposite side appears to have a picture of the St Louis brewery. All blades and the corkscrew are completely intact.
I believe this is one of the over 65 varieties of Anheuser Busch knives produced in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Adolphus Busch was a savvy marketer. He gave them away as gifts, calling cards and incentive rewards. They were at the 1893 Colombian Exposition in Chicago as well as the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis. The A. Kastor + Bros stamp refers to Adolf Kastor. He and his brothers were located in NYC beginning in the late 1800s where they imported and distributed German made knives.
