Description
Striking and unusual antique horse head bridle rosette measuring about 1-3/4" wide and about 1/2" deep.  Originally designed to slide onto the side of and decorate a head stall, halter or bridle, rosette features a wonderful image of a man jumping a split rail fence - he wears a red riding jacket, helmet and holds a whip in one hand.
Set against a cream ground, condition is very nice with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs or damage other than minor age and usage wear - the original brass bracket has been replaced with a loop and bar back so that it can be worn as a pin - where the bracket was removed, the holes have been neatly soldered and polished.  Dating to the early 1900s, it is a striking antique rosette - glass is not yellowed or cloudy - think it is nice that someone loved it enough to re-purpose it as a pin!
