This is a basketball card signed by
Bill Guthridge
(1937-2015).
Guthridge was born in Kansas, and went on
to play for the Kansas State Wildcats from
1957 to 1960. He then served as an assistant
coach for the Wildcats from 1962 to 1967.
From 1967 to 1997 he was
an assistant
coach
for the
North Carolina Tar Heels, serving under
legendary head coach Dean Smith. When Smith
retired in 1997, Guthridge was selected to be
the Tar Heels new head coach
. Following the
1997–98 season, several organizations named
him National Coach of the Year and he received
the Naismith College Coach of the Year award.
Guthridge retired after the 1999-2000 season.
The autograph is on an 3.5" by 2.5" basketball card.
The card is enclosed in a hard and clear
plastic sleeve,
