They are longer then stock with a grease grove

Just curious why shim till they have drag?
when you have a bushing that is .001 to .010 over the size of the shaft.
You are going to have side play from left to right or up and down how ever you look at it.
now add the distance between the pivot off the bushing to the end o the J-arm (ball joint)
that .001 to .010 is multiplied by a lot you could have 1/16 to 1/4" of play from left to right at the end of the J-arm
shim the end play out to put force on the end of the bushing will get rid of the side play and giving
you only the play that the bushing has. Witch is not very much
