    and secretary R. W. Fry. Certificate is about 8.5” x 11.” Black print with gold underprint on tan-colored paper. Seven mining vignettes around borders.
    The Mud Springs Mining District (also named El Dorado District) is located in west-central El Dorado County, California, a few miles southwest of Placerville. The district is in the Mother Lode gold belt, and includes the Logtown area a few miles to the south of El Dorado. El Dorado, originally known as Mud Springs, was a camp on the Kit Carson emigrant trail before the beginning of the gold rush. The Church, Union and other lode gold mines in the district were worked on a large scale during the 1890s and early 1900s.
