The Open River Transportation Company was formed in 1905 to build and operated steamboats at Portland, Oregon to carry passengers and freight. The company owned several steamboats (including the Sarah Dixon and the J. N. Teal) that ran from Portland to other locations along the Columbia River, including The Big Eddy, Carson, Hood River and The Dalles along the Upper Columbian.
