Rare antique decorative equestrian bridle rosette with carved dome glass.  My mother collected these.
Domed crystal bridle rosettes were a wonderful feature of the Victorian/Edwardian age. They were necessary horse decorations for any rider back in the day.They were brass backed with a bracket fitting so bridle leather couldslide through. Each horse would have a pair of rosettes on either side of hishead. These special antique rosettes have since been made into weighty pins.The picture motifs cover all subjects-from horses and dogs, ducks and cattle,to machinery, covered wagons, windmills, and boats-to any number of stylizedperiod designs. Most of these bridle buttons measure 1-3/4" in diameterwith a secure pin back. What a wonderful and unique piece of equestrian jewelryfor the horse lover!
I have a few for auction. This one is 1-3/4" in diameter.  Shows a rider jumping.  In great shape.
