Red River Handmade in the USA Ring Sweet Iron 3/8 Smooth Snaffle Bit 5 inch wideDescription
This is an awesome clean, lightly used pre-owned Red River O Ring style smooth snaffle bit made in the USA. The bit features 3 inch diameter stainless steel dee rings with a 3/8 inch diameter by 5 inch wide smooth sweet iron snaffle bit mouthpiece. The bit is in clean well maintained pre owned condition with light natural rusting of the sweet iron mouthpiece. Harmless to horses, the rust has a sweet taste and promotes salivation which promotes lightness and quick response. This bit weighs a little more than the average snaffle bit at 10.6 ounces.
This bit is designed for horses who have just begun training, are learning basic gaits, transitions, and obedience, and have begun to "break at the poll". This is a very comfortable bit for the horse due to its ergonomic curvature design of the snaffle mouthpiece. The unique curved bars of this Red River bit are ergonomically designed to accommodate the natural anatomy of the horse's mouth, wrapping the bars and lips instead of pinching as the mouthpiece rotates onto the tongue. This curved design also provides significantly more space for the horse's tongue underneath the bit, allowing the horse to comfortable swallow when the reins are not engaged.
Curved mouthpiece that allows horse to swallow.
Uses tongue pressure and bar pressure - working mostly off of the tongue
Distributes tongue pressure more evenly than traditional designs
Uses restrict and release action
Stainless Steel 3 inch Dee rings
