    Description

For sale is this lot of (6) transom mounting bolt assemblies.
These are suitable for mounting your outboard motor to a transom bracket, or directly to a boat transom.  They can also be used for a variety of jack plate applications.  Each assembly includes the bolt, heavy fender washer, plain washer and nylon lock nut.
    The bolts are
    1/2" x 4" stainless steel, stamped
"F593C" to validate that they meet ASTM F593C standard for type 304 stainless
, otherwise known as "18/8", not some mystery alloy.... you know exactly what you are getting!  These are new, and high quality, suitable for saltwater marine environments- you will love this product.
    Fitment and Application:
The bolts are 4" bolts, which measure about 4-1/2"" long overall, including the head, and have an unthreaded portion that measures about 2-5/8" in length.... There is a photo above that illustrates the dimensions.  When checking for fit against your application, be sure to consider the thickness of your transom, the engine mount, and figure the total thickness added by one fender washer, one plain washer, and the lock nut to be 3/4" combined.  This product will fit most outboard applications requiring a 1/2" or 13mm mounting bolt of this length.
We recommend installing these using 3M 5200 Marine Sealant to seal the transom holes around the bolts, and on the bolt threads as extra protection to lock the nut to the bolt and prevent the nut from backing off under extreme conditions.  We recommend 6-bolt kits whenever your application will accommodate it, and especially for high power, high speed, rough water, offshore or other situations where a larger factor of safety is desired.
Have a thinner or thicker transom and need a different size bolt?  Check out our other items!
***As with all stainless bolts, when using a nylon lock nut be sure to lightly lubricate the bolt threads with a very small amount of grease, oil or other lubricant of your choice to prevent galling of the bolt threads.***  More information about this can be found at http://www.estainlesssteel.com/gallingofstainless.html
