This is a vintage sterling silver mounted stainless steel bit with a snaffle bit mouthpiece and beautifully engraved Cavalry "S" style shanks.   The bit is in very well maintained pre owned condition with no visible damage.  The bit is marked "Mexico" on the tie bar.
The shanks measure 7-1/2 inches long with a 2-3/4 inch purchase for a 2.73 to 1 leverage ratio.  The mouthpiece measures 5 inches wide by 1/2 inch tapered down to 3/8 inches in diameter.  This heavy bit weighs a little over 1 pound and demonstrates great balance.
This great vintage sterling silver California Vaquero style bit will make a great addition to your bit collection and you might even find that your horse likes it too!
